ABOUT THE PROJECT
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Starting New Year’s Day 2015 I’m starting a new endeavor with multiple goals:
1. Get in shape
2. See some interesting parts of Idaho
3. Gather material for a future writing project
4. Raise a little money for charity
5. Have a lot of fun
So what is it? Over the next forty four months I plan to travel to the highest point in each of Idaho’s 44 counties, averaging one per month. I’m inviting any and all to accompany me either in person or in spirit. Each participant will be asked to donate $1 for each highpoint visit (either in person or in spirit) and the proceeds will be given to a charity in the respective county chosen by my spiritual director, Deacon Tammy Jones. Participants that participate in all 44 county visits will also become honorary members of the Rupert Jeep Club and with an additional $5 donation will receive the official decal of the Rupert Jeep Club.
If you’re wondering where this idea came from, it is not original. There is actually a national organization that promotes this activity all over the world. http://www.cohp.org/ Idaho has quite a challenging list which includes the following by elevation, ten of which are over 10,000 feet: http://www.idahoaclimbingguide.com/idaho-county-highpoints-andy-martin/ We will gradually work up toward the more difficult ones. Monthly outings will be announced a week to ten days in advance unless you really want more warning.
To participate in the initial excursion in person, show up January 1st. To participate in spirit, send your donation to:
Deacon’s Discretionary Fund

If you want to take care of it in one simple check including the Jeep Club decal, make the donation for $49 and we’ll let you know where it all goes. Here’s wishing you a prosperous New Year.
